Fall Leadership SummitThe AFT Michigan Fall Leadership Summit will be held October 1 in Mt. Pleasant. It is an opportunity for local Presidents, Political Coordinators, Treasurers and others local leaders to come together to look at what we are up against - the unending war on PreK-16 education, the middle class and unions - and to develop our skills to fight back. The twice-yearly Leadership Summit offers one of the few times local leadership from all parts of the state and constituent groups have an opportunity to meet, talk and learn from each other. Please consider sending a leadership team from your local. Everyone attending the Leadership Summit will meet together in the morning to look at the threats we face, how we arrived in the current environment, and how we can fight back. Then, after lunch we will divide into four groups (each person attending must register and select the afternoon session they will be attending): Presidents Council - Winning the war takes implementing what works, but it also takes leadership. What is the role of the leader? How can AFT Michigan help? Political Action Conference - Reviewing the political plan, election focus, ballot initiatives, raising PAC money, community outreach and We ARE The People. Communicating our Message - How do we craft and convey our message and move members to action - email, Facebook, Twitter, newsletters, web pages. Treasurer Training - Guidelines for keeping local finances in order. Event LocationComfort Inn Suites Hotel2424 S. Mission Street Mount Pleasant, MI |
