Spring Leadership Summit

The AFT Michigan Spring Leadership Summit will be held March 17, 2012, at the Soaring Eagle Conference Center in Mt. Pleasant.  It is an opportunity for you and your team to come together with others from around the state to learn about AFT tools you can use in your local, how we are going to reclaim our rights at the ballot box this fall, and we will have a special look at bargaining under the new laws.  Please consider bringing a leadership team from your local.

Everyone attending the Leadership Summit will meet together in the morning then, after lunch we will divide into six groups (each person attending must register and select the afternoon session they will be attending):

PreK-12 Teachers - How do we bargain now given the new laws, new restrictions and new challences? Other issues you want to discuss.

PSRPs - How do we bargain now given the new laws, new restrictions and new challences?  Activating the PSRP Committee and other issues you want to discuss.

Higher Education - How do we bargain now?  Developing a campaign to save Higher Education.

Political Action Coordinators - Reviewing the political plan, election focus, ballot initiatives, raising PAC money, community outreach and We ARE The People.

Health Care Advocates - We will discuss topics of concern including PA 152, the Hard Cap, what is meant by Out-of-Pocket Costs when we talk about Hard Cap and 80/20.

Community Outreach Coordinators - How do we engage in the communities where our members live and work?
