West Flight Attendant Vacation
August 24, 2012
The current Tentative Agreement contains no additional loss beyond what was negotiated in the January Tentative Agreement. The vacation proposal insisted on by the Company has been consistent between the January TA and this Tentative Agreement. Under the Company proposal reflected in both Tentative Agreements, Flight Attendants accrue the number of days as specified in their collective bargaining agreement prior to Date of Signing. So in the January TA, West Flight Attendants would have accrued the higher number of days specified in the West agreement for the first three months of the year and at the lower number in the TA for nine months. Here the same formula is used which results in West Flight Attendants accruing the higher number of days for nine months and a lower number of days for three months.
The January TA specified vacation in 2013 would be governed by the vacation provisions of the Tentative Agreement which specified a daily rate of 4.0 for groups of seven days or more of vacation. The current Tentative Agreement also states in implementation Sideletter 1 that the daily rate as specified in the Tentative Agreement will be utilized for all Flight Attendants for vacation used in 2013. In other words, there has been no change in this regard.
