July 2012 Bid Review
DCA-S Hotel Change
The "New" Pegasus Project Seeks Board Members
________________________________________________________

July 2012 Bid Review

On July 10th, due to increasing load factors, Guadalajara (GDL) service will be upgraded to predominately mainline flying.  This schedule change will produce a daily 1-day trip and 2 overnights.  This flight schedule should remain in effect until after the September Labor Day schedule change.

July 4th is always a popular Holiday, and this year July 4th falls on a Wednesday.  It is expected that many Americans will take a full week of vacation during this period.  This will make the weekends proceeding and following the 4th of July very popular travel dates.  Expect high load factors on these weekends, especially if you plan on traveling space available. This week is also a time when Flight Attendants desire days off.  In order to accommodate some schedule flexibility, the number of 4-day trips in July was lowered.  If you have vacation in July, remember that July 1st through July 5th are considered Vacation Drop blackout dates.

VLOA’s will not be offered for the month of July.  Last year, we were told by Schedule Planning that the Company would have to lower the number of July Flight Attendant Vacations due to anticipated critical staffing.  The fact that the Company has recently added 60+ Flight Attendants will help relieve the anticipated critical staffing. These additional Flight Attendants along with the fact that no VLOA’s will be awarded, allowed us to keep the line average at a normal number of 78 credits.

The July bid will close on Sunday, July 17th at 9:00am.  Unfortunately, the Bid Award will not be processed until Monday morning, July 18th.   Why isn’t the bid awarded on a Sunday even though we run a 24 hour a day operation?  The problem is that the server for Maestro is in New York City.  The bid award can be ran from Phoenix, but if a problem should occur during the Bid Award, there would be no one in New York City to provide support.  Maestro provides assistance Monday through Saturday.

The "New" Pegasus Project Seeks Board Members

Later this year Pegasus Project, a relief fund initially established for Flight Attendants, plans to provide assistance to all US Airways employees who qualify. In order to expand Pegasus’ mission, a new 11 member Board of Directors will be appointed this summer.

If you have a passion to serve your fellow US Airways employees in need and have current or past experience serving on a non-profit board or community organization, Pegasus needs you! They are seeking applicants from pilots, flight attendants, mechanics and agents from reservations, operations, fleet service and airport services as well as non-represented employees from CHQ.

Pegasus is a non-profit organization that is funded through voluntary contributions from employees, including dedicated contributions through the United Way. Employees seeking assistance will complete an application and a needs assessment process by Pegasus determines a funding level for the employee.

If you’re interested in becoming a member of the Pegasus Board of Directors apply online by clicking HERE. The deadline to apply is June 15. If you are not selected as a board member, there will be other opportunities to serve on Pegasus committees and the Advisory Board.

Pegasus will take flight soon to assist all US Airways employees. Apply for a board position today! You can help make a real difference in the lives of your fellow coworkers!
