Democracy Wins in Court. Now It's OUR Time!
Just in time for the Independence Day holiday, great news: A U.S. district court has upheld the new, more democratic rules by the National Mediation Board (NMB), and Delta AFA is filing for single-carrier determination so we can move on to our representation vote.
We're on the way to our vote for representation! That's another good reason to celebrate this holiday! We're finally going to get our chance to vote, and with a yes-no ballot for the first time. Here are a couple of fliers you can pass around to our colleagues to spread the good news.
With the new NMB rules going into effect this morning, AFA is filing the petition for single-carrier certification this afternoon for purposes of a representation election. We expect the Board to act quickly, setting dates for an election within a month. We could be voting as early as September, barring any further delaying tactics by Delta and its industry lobby. Check out the AFA news release here.
Delta has stated that it will not appeal the district court ruling upholding the new NMB rules, and we're going to hold our airline to its statement. Let's get on to the vote! No more stalling!
What will representation mean for Delta flight attendants? It was one year ago this month we sent out the video, "Representation," which carries a message even more important today. Check it out here on YouTube, "like" it and save it to your favorites.
While you're on YouTube, don't forget that we have a campaign song posted there that you can download and pass around. "OUR Song" was written, produced and sung by Delta flight attendant Jarrod Anderson and his group, Soulacious. Here's the link.
We at Delta AFA wish you all a happy and safe Fourth of July holiday weekend. Wherever you are, it's a new day for Delta flight attendants.
