Dear Supporter

We are pleased to announce some changes to our Professional Standards/EAP committee.  ATL flight attendant Jennifer Fritchman will be joining Ken Mills as a Co-Chair of this committee.  Jennifer has worked in many capacities for our council over the years including serving as a Grievance Rep, the Chairperson of the Scheduling Committee, and most recently on the negotiating committee that negotiated our 2011 CBA.  Jen will be focusing on the Professional Standards aspect of this important committee, while Ken will focus on the E.A.P. side. 

So what role does this vital committee play in our union?

• Professional Standards gives crew members involved with duty related conflicts the opportunity to resolve the issue(s) in a fair, respectful, and confidential manner without management involvement.  “One-on one” resolution is encouraged prior to contacting the Professional Standards committee.  Confidentiality for all parties is guaranteed.  However, circumstances of a case may make anonymity difficult, in spite of adherence to confidentiality.
  
  Professional Standards is voluntary, informal and completely separate from company procedures.  Professional Standards will not handle a case if management is actively involved or a grievance has been filed.
  
  If you have had a conflict while on duty with another crewmember, this is the FIRST contact you should make to attempt resolution.
  
  

• The Employee Assistance Program is a confidential resource designed to assist crew members, their families and partners with:  workplace trauma and/or critical incidents; psychological and/or emotional issues; family issues; chemical dependency; physical health; financial/legal concerns; compulsive-addictive behaviors.
  
  This is an valuable source for those in need.
