Dear Supporter,

SAP REMINDERS FOR DECEMBER

Here is some information for you to consider when sapping for December with the holiday restrictions:

The following is taken directly from our contract, 9.3.e, concerning the protected holiday in SAP.

"Flight attendants may use SAP to drop pairings which touch a Protected Holiday. Such drops may be limited based on the open positions touching Protected Holidays resulting from known sick, vacation and training adjustments made prior to SAP. However, a minimum of fifteen percent (15%) of flight attendant positions originating, overlapping, or terminating on a Protected Holiday shall be in open time after SAP awards.

Example: If there were 1000 positions in a domicile that originated, overlapped or terminated on Memorial Day (Protected Holiday per Section 9.B.1.e.) and 150 positions were open when SAP awards were processed, no drops would be allowed because the base had 15% or more open trips. Conversely, if 140 positions were open at such time, 10 drops would be allowed because the number of open trips at the domicile equates to 14% of all trips. Further, if two (2) flight attendants in such domicile picked up a trip that originated, overlapped or terminated on Memorial Day, the result would be that an additional two (2) flight attendants would be allowed to drop said holiday. Note: For the purposes of the aforementioned provision, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are combined as if one (1) holiday."

When you are sapping if you have a trip that touches the 24th and 25th you can try to sap a trip that only touches one or the other it doesn't have to cover both days. The SAP program will recognize both of those days as 1 touch. Another thing to remember this year is the companies very own Merry Christmas and Happy New Year because Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are on Saturday and Sunday as well as New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, which means you will have the weekend restriction if you use the AIL to trip improve off your holiday trip (s).

The link below will take you to the SAP manual to assist you and you can always call your local office.
