Dear Supporter,

Safety On Board

New Flight Attendant Manual (FAM) Effective (March 15, 2012)

Please insure you have your new Flight Attendant Manual inserted in the old IEM binder. You must have the Alert Bulletins and the Revision 01-2012 (Chapter 7) inserted as well. The cabin prep pages go in the binder pocket with your OAH. Follow the instructions provided. You are also required to go to Wings, where you will electronically sign for your new FAM.

There have been many changes to the format of the new Flight Attendant Manual. Some of the new additions come from the FAPP (the online policy and procedure manual). How many times were you unable to locate information regarding Unaccompanied Minors, Potable Water, or Extended Onboard Delays it's now in the new FAM.

Chapter 1 of the FAM is very important. It gives a complete view of the organization and layout of the manual. It will help in assisting each of us in understanding the entire document. Service questions? Check the FAM. One very exciting procedure is the inclusion of Cabin Odors (7-4-15).

Should you receive a check ride from an InFlight Supervisor and or an FAA inspector, be sure and use your FAM. Your AFA Air Safety, Health and Security MEC committee chairs worked in conjunction with Hector and his Inflight team to provide you with procedures for Air Quality events during ground operations. Although we don't always see eye to eye on this subject we agreed that Flight Attendants needed guidance. We would like to thank Hector and his Inflight team for allowing AFA Air Safety, Health and Security the opportunity to work with them.

If you have questions, the FAM HOTLINE is (480) 693-1979 Monday-Friday 0700-1800.

P.S. - The cabin preparations for evacuation pages are correct; the "B" will be making all announcements (procedural change).
