Dear Supporter,
During a MEC Special Meeting on 3/21/12 a motion was made by LECP #70 to recall MEC President Mike Flores which was seconded by LECP #89. The motion was passed and the MEC President was recalled from office.
After receiving E-Lines from both Councils, and from the outpouring of calls and emails that we are receiving, there are still big questions as to not only why the recall occurred, but also why now?
Additionally, members can't help but wonder if there is a correlation between the recall and the TA and understandably so.
Members are also asking if the MEC President had already agreed to step down after the Balloting Process what was the urgency in not waiting 10 more days?
I too have asked those same questions.
In my opinion, now was not the time to change leadership while the ratification vote is pending. This TA needs to either pass or fail on it's own merit.
One of two things will happen March 31st:
If the TA ratifies we would begin preparation to merge two MEC's which means a new election of all MEC officers and MEC chairs.
Mr. Flores has already stated to us via conference calls, as well as at many systemwide roadshows he has NO interest in remaining in his position.
If the TA doesn't ratify, collectively your LEC Presidents need to have a plan B which could have included possible leadership and JNC changes.
Therefore, this unneeded distraction and disruption during a most critical juncture of a TA ratification was untimely at best.
Respectfully,
Dianne Britton LEC President
