Dear Pinnacle, Colgan and Mesaba Flight Attendants,

Congratulations! A few moments ago AFA delivered more than enough authorization cards to the National Mediation Board (NMB) to trigger an election for your representation at the new Pinnacle. There is no doubt that you are fully engaged in deciding what’s next for your careers and your future. In less than two weeks time you were part of collecting an overwhelming number of cards that show support for joining the world’s largest Flight Attendant union and gaining the powerful advocacy that comes with it.

With over 60 years of experience, AFA represents Flight Attendants at United, US Airways, American Eagle, Hawaiian, Alaska, Air Wisconsin and 16 other airlines. There is a significant advantage in joining hands with Flight Attendants throughout the industry and the union that understands better than any other how to negotiate Flight Attendant contracts, enforce them on a daily basis and provide Flight Attendants the kind of support we need daily in our unique work lives. There is a real advantage in electing AFA to navigate even the most difficult issues in bankruptcy in order to create opportunities for your future at Pinnacle.

You may already know – AFA will become a member of the Creditors Committee in the Pinnacle bankruptcy, if elected. Read this Bankruptcy Update to learn more. And, read about AFA’s experience in defending Flight Attendants during a bankruptcy.

We encourage you to watch a few videos that touch on the professional work our union does every day and the kind of representation you will have as an AFA member: yourafa.org/videos

These updates and educational pieces only tell part of the story about the advantages of our Flight Attendant union. We recognize this will all come down to what this means for you and your family. We encourage you to ask questions and we look forward to talking with you. AFA members will be at many of the airports where you work on a regular basis over the coming weeks and we will also schedule official meetings where you will be able to meet our professionals on staff and other Flight Attendant members of AFA to provide you a full picture of the representation that can be yours.

The expertise of our union has resulted in industry-leading contracts and daily representation that is unmatched. With AFA, Flight Attendants get the most experienced negotiators for Flight Attendant contracts in the industry and unparalleled resources in legal representation, EAP services and safety, health and security standards. The Flight Attendant profession is unique - no one knows your job like other Flight Attendants. For over 60 years, AFA has represented Flight Attendants on the job, on Capitol Hill, before federal agencies and at the bargaining table. AFA is the leading voice for Flight Attendants – 60,000 strong – a union of, by and for Flight Attendants.

Voting dates will be announced by the NMB soon and we will keep you updated on a regular basis as this process moves forward. We encourage you to talk with each other and consider what we can achieve by standing together for the best circumstances at your new airline. Together, we are better.
