Sheryl Sandberg: Lean In With the Women of Harvard’s DoubleTree

On May 21th, 2014, Delmy Lemus, a housekeeper at Harvard’s DoubleTree Suites, sent the following letter to Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook, Harvard College ’91 and Harvard Business School ’95.

Dear Ms. Sandberg,

When you wrote Lean In, you told us that “too many women lower their voices when they should be speaking up.”

I am a woman who is speaking up.  I am a woman who is leaning in.

I am leaning in as a housekeeper at Harvard’s DoubleTree Suites in Boston, Massachusetts. I’m leaning in because I want my daughters to attend college. I’m leaning in because I believe all women deserve respect at work. I’m leaning in for me.

It has come to my attention that you will be in Boston on May 28th for Harvard’s Commencement activities. While you are here, will you host a “Lean In Circle” for myself and other women leaders at Harvard’s DoubleTree Suites?

Sincerely,

Delmy Lemus
