Dear Supporter,

As attacks on workers continue throughout the country, there is a rare opportunity in California to improve the lives of working men and women. The United Farm Workers union is urging Gov. Jerry Brown to sign a bill to help farm workers, and we must stand with the UFW in solidarity.

In California, farm workers remain very difficult to protect, with more than 400,000 workers moving frequently among 80,000 farms. In order to enforce workplace protections, both the California State Senate and the California Assembly recently passed S.B. 104, the Fair Treatment for Farm Workers Act. This bill will make it easier for farm workers to have a union and to stand up for their rights, and it will strengthen organized labor as we fight to protect working families across the nation.

Today, I am asking for your help with two things:

1. Please click on this link and sign this petition. After signing it, please post comments below it to let Gov. Brown know that you believe it is a basic right to give workers an opportunity to join a union.

2. On Thursday, June 16, please join California State Association of Letter Carriers President John Beaumont for a rally in Sacramento with other labor unions in support of S.B. 104. The rally will begin at noon on the north side of the state capitol at 11th and L streets.

In Solidarity,

Fredric V. Rolando, President
National Association of Letter Carriers
