Dear Supporter,
There are two distinct choices in Tuesday's special election for California's 36th Congressional District representative.
Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn, who is running against small-business owner Craig Huey, fully supports maintaining six-day mail delivery. She also supports fixing the Postal Service’s burdensome future retiree health benefits pre-funding requirement as well as transferring USPS's pension fund surpluses into that future retiree health benefits fund.
Hahn strongly opposes Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget, which would destroy Medicare as we know it while incorporating tax breaks for millionaires. Meanwhile, her opponent has endorsed many of the ideas that would hurt working families while prioritizing those same tax breaks over real job-creation programs.
For these reasons, we encourage you to get out and vote next Tuesday for Janice Hahn. She will stand with working families and with letter carriers, in her district and across the country. During such a critical time for the Postal Service, it is essential that we elect candidates who are friendly to letter carriers and sympathetic to our issues and our fight to preserve six-day mail delivery.
Please encourage your brother and sister letter carriers in your branch to do the same. In solidarity, we can help make a difference in this election and make sure we have a friend representing California’s 36th Congressional District.
Please vote for NALC-endorsed Janice Hahn this Tuesday, July 12!
In solidarity,
Fredric V. Rolando, President
