Dear Supporter,

On Tuesday, July 19, please turn out and vote for State Sen. Dave Hansen. Sen. Hansen bravely stood up to Gov. Scott Walker and the Republican legislature to defend collective-bargaining rights for nurses, teachers, firefighters and other public employees.

Despite the overwhelming opposition to Scott Walker’s attack on state workers, the six Republican state senators who now find themselves recalled for elections this summer voted in support of the union-busting bill. Republicans have tried to counter this effort by recalling Democrats who supported workers, and have successfully forced recall elections for three Democrats, including Sen. Hansen.

If that weren't bad enough, Republican operatives have unethically conspired to interfere with the Democratic Party’s internal affairs and have placed Republicans on several Democratic Primary ballots in an attempt to rig the nomination process in their favor. Voters won’t be fooled.

Many letter carriers remember when, prior to the 1970 Great Postal Strike, postal employees had no collective-bargaining rights. Postal workers were forced to resort to collective-begging, instead of collective-bargaining, to get wage or benefit increases. Letter carriers understand the threat of losing these rights and will not tolerate it in Wisconsin or anywhere else.

Again, please remember to get out and vote for State Sen. Dave Hansen on Tuesday, July 19, to represent you and thousands of other working families in the state Senate.

In Solidarity,

Fredric V. Rolando, President
National Association of Letter Carriers
