On Tuesday, July 12, please turn out and vote for NALC-endorsed candidate Jennifer Shilling in the Senate District #32 Democratic primary. Jennifer Shilling opposes Scott Walker’s assault on Wisconsin’s working families, and it’s imperative that she be able to take that message all the way to Madison. Despite the overwhelming opposition to Scott Walker’s attack on state workers, the six Republican state senators who now find themselves recalled for elections this summer voted in support of the union-busting bill. Republicans have tried to counter this effort by recalling Democrats who supported workers, and have successfully forced recall elections for three Democrats.
As if that weren't bad enough, Republican operatives have unethically conspired to interfere with the Democratic Party’s internal affairs. Republican strategists have placed Republican spoilers on the Democratic Primary ballot in an attempt to rig the nomination process in their favor. Don’t be fooled; vote for Jennifer Shilling and not fake Democrat James Smith.
Many letter carriers remember when, prior to the 1970 Great Postal Strike, postal employees had no collective-bargaining rights. Postal workers were forced to resort to collective-begging, instead of collective-bargaining, to get wage or benefit increases. Letter carriers understand the threat of losing these rights and will not tolerate it in Wisconsin or anywhere else.
Again, please remember to get out and vote for Jennifer Shilling on Tuesday, July 12, to represent you and thousands of other working families in the state senate.
Fredric V. Rolando, President
