I want to keep you updated on what is happening in the debt ceiling negotiations and ensure that you have the latest information available.
The debt ceiling negotiations in Washington have been long on speeches but short on specifics. There may be items that will affect active or retired letter carriers as well as the USPS.
The NALC position, which we have made clear to the Senate, House and White House, is that our fundamental problem is the congressionally mandated schedule for pre-funding future retiree health benefits.
As details become available, and none are available at this time, we will communicate with you.
