Dear Supporter,
In the past, I have asked you to call your member of Congress about returning the Postal Service to solid financial footing. As a letter carrier, you are an integral part of your community. Now is your opportunity to explain your relationships with your customers publicly to your representative. Representatives have now returned to their home districts for recess, which provides an excellent opportunity for you to meet your member face-to-face at town hall meetings and to tell your story.
Please contact your member of Congress’ office and ask if there are any upcoming public town halls or Labor Day events in his or her district. You can find your member of Congress and their contact information by following this link.
Next, choose a town hall or Labor Day event near you and share this information with your NALC brothers and sisters. Attend the event in your NALC T-shirt and bring a group of letter carriers with you to demonstrate solidarity.
Lists of the co-sponsors of both H.Res. 137 and H.R. 1351 are at the bottom of this email. While you are at an event, please ask your member of Congress the following questions:

Will you pledge to OPPOSE the Postal Service’s plan to lay off 120,000 employees?
TO ALL MEMBERS OF CONGRESS NOT CO-SPONSORING H.RES. 137:
Will you pledge to support maintaining six day mail delivery service?
If yes, will you pledge to co-sponsor H.Res. 137?
TO ALL MEMBERS OF CONGRESS NOT CO-SPONSORING H.R. 1351:
Will you allow the Postal Service to save itself by using its own money?
If yes, will you pledge to co-sponsor H.R. 1351?
TO ALL MEMBERS OF CONGRESS CO-SPONSORING BOTH H.R. 1351 AND H.RES. 137:
Will you pledge to support maintaining postal employees’ collective bargaining rights and their hard-earned wages and benefits, which were agreed upon during past collective bargaining?
If it is permitted, please record footage of the responses and e-mail the video file to rosenblatt@nalc.org. If you can’t record any footage, please write down your member of Congress’ response and mail it to us.
