The Tesoro oil refinery in Kapolei, Hawaii has long provided good, family sustaining jobs and a secure source of refined petroleum products for the people of Hawaii. The closure of the refinery would eliminate a majority of the 250 refinery jobs and more than 2,000 related jobs. It also would cause a spike in gasoline and other fuel prices in the state, further damaging the economy.
